How do I install a video card?

If I buy a video card for my Dell Dimension 5150 desktop, how would I install it? I've never done anything like this before.|||You have to check your motherboard and see if it has the expansion slot for the type of videocard you would like to install. Usually these are PCI slots, if you put ur motherboard model number in google it will tell you if you do a put of research. Usually what you do is install the disc for it then put it in the computer, its fairly easy just unscrew the back of your tower and place it in the slots, and screw it in so its secure.|||look for it here|||well first you need to make sure you have a slot open so you can put in your video card.. look at your mother bord... and look around the bottem and see if you a pci slot open.. if you do then go buy your card. get the card out and just put it in the slot. then turn on your computer and install the drivers and your good!! =D the card should tell you how to install it..|||Well for one I'd be amazed if your Dell can take newer video card. A couple reasons why: Pre-made computers like Dells, Gateways, etc tend to have video cards and motherboards specifically made for that model and power supplies that -just barely- power the entire computer. Why? It's cheaper. Even if another video card you buy fits in your motherboard, I'd be surprised if your power supply would be able to put enough power to it.

I searched for your computer's model and their power supplies are only 400 watts. Many video cards use 200 watts in themselves, which doesn't include the rest of your system. My point it is, don't buy a video card. Get a whole new computer with a better video card or pay a nerd to build you one from scratch. Paying a nerd to build you a high end machine will still be FAR cheaper than buying a premade one.
