Should I use onboard video or purchase a pci video card?

I just bought a 1080p monitor and movies and video clips are very choppy at max resolution. I have a dell e310 with Intel GMA 900 Graphics with 128MB Shared Memory. I have a PCIe 1x slot but i can't find many video cards to fit and none are within my budget. Will a 50 - 60 dollar pci video card be an improvement or should i stick with the onboard?|||There are almost no PCI-E x1 video cards on the market. Here's the only model carried by NewEgg, but it's pricey for what it is.

If you had a more recent integrated video chipset like the GMA 3100 or 4500 then you'd be better off sticking with built-in video, because old PCI bandwidth is so low. But your GMA 900 is so weak you'd see improvement going to a GeForce 6200 or Radeon X1550 PCI card. But don't waste money on a GeForce FX5200 or Radeon 9200, those PCI cards are obsolete junk.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Buy a video card...I'd aim more towards about $100 if you want decent quality tho|||a $50-60 card will be a VAST improvement over the Intel Onboard Graphics.

PCIe 1x graphics cards are expensive...but you can use a PCI card such as this GeForce 9400GT 512MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… for $74 which is a respectable card. considering the PCI limitation but has GDDR2 memory and DirectX 10|||Defiantly purchase a video card.|||If you have the chance I also would chose a PCI Card. And if you take a look to the Pricerunner comparison Website you will recognise ther are a lot of PCIe Cards for under £40 (nearly 60$).

Just take a look,

Because there are also enough more powerful cards then your on board one.

Good Luck|||On board graphic cards are usually the bare minimum unless you bought a computer geared to either Gaming or Media Centre

If the video you are watching is jumpy (as in it will play then suddenly come jumpy to a later spot in the video) this happens either because of low processor power (or if it is online low bandwidth)

but if it is choppy (as in it is clear/HD some times but looks like a jig saw puzzle other times) then you need a new pci card

I really don't know much about prices but I am pretty sure there are pci card specifically built for HD, but they are probably more expensive

hopes this helps|||Yeah you can get the 8600gt its only $60 and it will play your movies with amazing detail. And if your in to games you will be able to play any game out including crysis.
