Is a video card to blame for choppy video and sound on a mac?

I have a 128 mb video card and when i try to play video on final cut and quicktime, its real choppy and stop-n-go.

Is there anyway to fix this without buying a new card?|||That is a pretty fat video card for a mac. I have a 32 MB video on a mac mini with a 20 inch display. Unless I try full screen it works very well. Maybe you are streaming, that relies on the download speed of your modem. Maybe your source media (DVD or hd) has corrupt or fragmented files. I don't expect the card is the issue all alone.

Do noe you have done additional testing, and you believe it is not the card; so be sure your software is the most recent versions and updates. Then repair preferences with your system utility, and restart.Still problems? Try apple support forums.|||Probably in the options in final cut.... Otherwise you will have to buy a new video card....|||Could be the video/sound card, but it could also be your codec. Download and install any new codecs available for you're trying to play.
