What happens when I install an Intel extreme graphics driver to my NVIDIA video card?

I just wanna know because my dad installed Intel(R) extreme graphics driver on my computer but it's video card is NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 pro....so what's gonna happen on my pc?|||You need to use the driver that matches your hardware.|||im pretty sure the video driver he got you was for the motherboard (assuming its a tower) not the graphics card, should not change anything on the nvidia

Video card problem does it slow down my computer?

I have a ECS KT600-A motherboard

AMD ATHLON XP 2200+ 1.79ghz

512mb ram

RADEON 7000 AGP 64mb

Does the video card slows down my computer?

|||No, video doesn't slow the performance of the machine. Lack of video power may prevent some high end game from playing.||| A Slow System?

# Harassed by DLL errors?

# Plagued by constant Blue Screens?

# Receiving error messages and don't know why?

How does this affect me?

Every Microsoft Windows operating system has a registry. Your system registry holds a wealth of information about your computer, which is why we constantly hear from users that after using their PC for a short length of time, it no longer works the way it used to. This is due in part to invalid entries that exist in your system registry, that might exist because of software you are no longer using or software that was not properly removed. By removing these invalid entries, you can significantly increase the performance of your PC.

http://www.simplyfreenow.info/registryfix.html|||That's a pretty relative question in my opinion.

As far as gaming, yes that's your killer. as far as word / document processing, it wont slow that down. If by "Computer" you mean menu's and programs (other than gaming), your biggest problem there is RAM.

the ECS Kt600 is a good board, i used to have one. Pairing that with 512 ram and a 64MB video is very weak. =\|||If your computer is slow in general, you can try adding more RAM to gain performance.|||Do the math. If you are doing something that requires 512MB, and you have 64MB, you have a slower PC.

Can I upgrade my HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx video card for better gaming?

Hi, I just bought a refubished HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx from circuit city for 570. It is comming in the mail but I want it to have a good video card for easy gaming. If you could lead me to a website that sells upgrades it would be great!|||hey i would suggest that u just go into a computer shop and ask them. if they dont already have one they can easily get one in for you and if you like they can also install it for you.|||First of all, unless you buy a DIY laptop (one you build and spec yourself) you can't upgrade the video card. Video cards for laptops are built into the main board according to the manufacturer's spec. Only a few pre-configured laptops have video cards that are upgradeable (which is usually the same type of video card you would find in a desktop computer).

Depending on what you consider "easy" gaming, the video card that is in the dv7 is an integrated video card with shared memory, i.e. it draws memory from the same RAM that the CPU uses. This card is okay for games that aren't graphics intensive and for older games. It will have a hard time playing any graphics intensive games released in the last four years. You can check the links below for specs on the laptop and performance numbers on the video card.|||No. Video Cards are SOLDERED in the motherboard there is just no way.

How do I find out the specs and model of my PC video card on Vista?

I would like to buy some new PC games, but I don't know how to gain information about my video card. I'm using Windows Vista on a good computer, and I refuse to open my tower to check inside. Thank you for your help!|||Greetings,

Follow these steps in order.

Click Start --> Click Control Panel --> Click Classic View on the left --> Click Device Manager in the main window --> Click the + to the left of "Display Adapters" --> Search on Google for the specs of the video card it displays.

Hope this helps!

Would you recommend this video card for moderate gaming?

I was shopping around for a video for a budget gaming rig. Mostly for stuff like spore, the cod games, etc. This card caught my eye, due to the price and its high core clock. So, do you think it would work well, or should I shoot for something else?|||Same one and even cheaper.

Is the video card for the Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 upgradeable?

I'm running Vista on the Dual-Core processor model with 1G RAM. The factory Intel 945GM Express Chipset family doesn't cut it for many games out there.

I'd rather not buy a new laptop if I could instead just get a faster video card, but I've been unable to locate an answer as to whether the card is replaceable, or if it's integrated into the motherboard (?).

Or is there an alternative option I'm not thinking about?|||It's an integrated card, therefore not upgradeable.|||I checked and i found out that the card is integrated on to the motherboard..The Board is 945 (intel) So go for a pcmcia or pci graphics card whichever your portable supports..|||You might check with a computer center like Fry's or Circuit City for one that will plug into the card reader or USB port. The video card is built into the mother board and would be very expensive to replace.

Hope this helps

What can i do to improve my laptop's video card?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5332, and it's video card is intel GMA 450.. i don't know but it is something like that.and it's video graphics memory is 796mb, in performance information and tools, it's score is just 3.3 and i need 3.5 to play the sims 3..what can i do?|||You could try to recalculate your score after you have installed the latest drivers for your graphics card or after you have assigned more RAM in the BIOS of your laptop to be shared with your graphics card. If both fail to improve your score, there is nothing you can do, sorry. Since you cannot upgrade or change the graphics card of a laptop, you would have to purchase a new laptop if you wish to play The Sims 3 on a laptop.|||even if you managed to put it up to 3.5 you still cant play sims3 with a decent frame rate, that video card is not suitable for gaming and don't mind looking for an upgrade because the laptop your using has no slot pciex slot and only video card you can use for that is the built-in GMA450|||(Lol, I used make all kinds of stuff for the sims). Try going to your computers support website. There should be a way to look up exactly what kind of card your machine has. Now, there may be a section there that will sell you a compatible upgrade for the video card, or you could take it into the nearest computer shop and see what upgrades are available there. If you're planning to get any of the sims games, I'd advise checking out the website: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/ It's a community that deals with fixing bugs and problems with the games that even the official patches don't deal with.

Can this video card run WOW without problems?

How Much Would Installing a Video Card On a Laptop be?

how much would it cost to upgrade my video card on a laptop be? what is good video card and how much is it in Canada? please help!!|||Can't be done. No room in the laptop case for it. The only things that can be upgraded or changed on a laptop are (1) the RAM and (2) the hard drive. Everything else is integrated into the motherboard. To upgrade anything else would require a new motherboard and if you're going that expensive, you might as well buy a new laptop!|||Dude I Told You. Its Near Impossible. How can I get windows xp to accept a windows 98 driver for a video card?

when I upgraded to windows xp, I had no problem with the video card and driver, but now starting new with a clean install, windows xp on it's own says, this driver wasn't designed for windows xp, and it won't install it.

what can I do to make it take the driver, I already know it works fine, it just won't take it.|||You more than likely cannot install the windows 98 driver onto a windows xp machine, go to the manufacturers website and get the windows 2000 driver for it.|||I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU GO TO THE SITE OF THE VIDEO CARD MAKER AND SEARCH FOR THE PROPER DRIVER.WHEN YOU FIRST UPGRADED TO XP,IF YOU DIDN'T DO A CLEAN INSTALL.THEN THE DRIVER MUST HAVE STILL REMAINED.HOW IT DIDN'T HAVE A CONFIG PROBLEM IS BEYOND ME.BUT CHECK THE MAKERS SITE.

CAUSE IM PRETTY SURE THAT A 98 DRIVER WON'T WORK

OTHERWISE.IF IT WORKED THE FIRST TIME,WHY DID YOU FORMAT AND DO A CLEAN INSTALL?|||Doesn't XP provide a driver compatible w/ your video card? When I did a full upgrade from 98 to XP, I didn't have to fish for any drivers: XP provided everything.|||You cannot. Drivers for windows 98 are meant to be for windows 98. If you want to install any driver on a windows xp it has to be windows xp (Duh)|||Never tried to do something alike.

Is there any small upgrade I can make to my computer besides a video card and RAM to incease gaming?

I just purchased a video card not a 500 dollar one but I can pass the recommended system requirements for almost all games with the one I have now and I really do not feel like buying RAM because it's hard to find RAM compatible with a specific computer so is there anything i can upgrade for under 100 bucks|||Buy RAM. The only other thing you could do is upgrade your cpu, but you got to make sure your motherboard can support it.|||256 meg Video Cards are around 50 bucks (US). If you went the next step for a 512 meg that would be better. Ram is easy. Just pull one of your Ram cards out and take it to the Computer store and ask for some more.

But, if you knew what motherboard you have, and what power supply you have, people could get really detailed with the help you require.|||I would buy cooling, such as a fan. With a good fan you can overclock your processor and RAM to give you more performance

Is it possible to connect the Xbox360 VGA cable into my video card (dual VGA slot) then connect to my monitor?

I;m doing this because my monitor only has 1 VGA slot....and i was wondering if i can utilize the 2 VGA slots on my video card to connect both xbox360 and PC at the same time into 1 monitor.|||NO. The VGA connectors on the video card are outputs, designed only to send video data out to a monitor.|||Unfortunately you can't. Most Graphics cards in PCs are output, and not input. So not really.|||No, the VGA Slots on your video card are for output only not input. You can however get TV Card with S-video and connect the xbox to the computer to feed to the monitor that way.

Or even better get a KVM switch. This allows you to share one keyboard, mouse and monitor with two or more computers. In your case one monitor shared between the computer and xbox. You just have to hit a little button to switch between the inputs.

cost anywhere from 15 to 50 bucks for the fancy models.

Where can I find a video/graphics card for a Hp Pavilion 542x desktop?

I bought the Sims Three, but then got a new (used) computer. Installed the game, but now can't play it because I have no graphics card. I need to know where I can buy one and about how much it will cost me. On the case it says I need a "128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0"

Help, please.|||The problem with pre-built desktops from companies like HP (which, once a long time ago, used to be known for quality) is that they build those things en masse, the cheapest way possible. Which leaves little room for expansion.

From the specs I pulled online, it seems your computer only has a PCI slot (not to be confused with the newer PCI-express). Unfortunately, I don't know of many PCI graphics cards that are decent. Sims 3 is a very demanding game, I know, I'm addicted to it.

My computer is pretty impressive, but it still struggles with the game. And my graphics card was $200 and uses the very latest in technology.

PCI cards may not cut it, period. PCI is very old technology and so are the graphics cards that run on it. For the price, none of them are worth it, considering similarly priced PCI-e cards are exponentially better. Also, none of the PCI cards I've seen support pixel shader 2.0.

I'm sorry, but even if you managed to get a PCI card that meets the requirements, the game will probably look very ugly and still won't run smoothly. (the game, according to the box, could run on my laptop, but it lagged so badly it wasn't even worth playing) Not to mention your Celeron processor is less powerful than that of my latop.

I really wish I had better news for you... Sims 3 is an awesome game.

And this is why I never bother with pre-built computers anymore. If at all possible, build your own. Or get a friend who knows a lot about computers to come and help you build one. After all, a decent rig that you build yourself will have many options for expansion, whereas the pre-built ones pretty much screw you over.|||Hi there my name is avimanyu... and what kind of video card should i get?|||What's the specific model of your laptop? Are you installing Windows Vista on your own (like upgrading from Windows XP)? Are you sure you have the correct driver installed? Is the driver fails to operate?

Laptop's graphic cards usually on-board so it makes (almost) impossible to upgrade it. If you know the specific model of your laptop, you should be able to research to find out what graphic card is used in your laptop so that you can find and install the graphic driver that is compatible to Windows Vista. Note that not all graphic card are compatible with Windows Vista.|||You will not be able to just swap in a new graphics card for your laptop. your laptop has an onboard graphics controller and it is soldered to oyur motherboard.

When we buy laptops we asume that they will do everyhting we want it to do. so my suggestion is, either think about buying a new laptop, or set the settings in vista to a lower setting. So instead of running areo try using the classic theme. this will aleviate oyur stressed graphics controller.

Also I suggest using a different screen scaver. the simple microsoft screensavers will do the job and they do not require an advance graphics card to run.

Will my Nvidia GTS 250 video card get damaged running with a 300W power supply?

My computer has a 300 watt power supply and I recently bought a GTS 250 video card. The requirements say that I should have a minimum of a 475 watt power supply. Can the card get damaged if I use this power supply?|||no but depending on the power supply it will either not work or burn out the supply so in short get a new supply hope this helps|||It shouldn't damage it, but it wont run properly (if it runs at all).

It's always better to have more than enough power than not enough.|||I don't think the card will be damaged, it just won't be able to run period. It NEEDS at least 475 watts to run. Anything below won't allow it to power up.

You will either have to get a different card that is within your supplies parameters, or get a stronger power supply. I recommend a larger power supply, as the power usage for most video cards is above 300 watts. You will be hard pressed to find a decent card that runs under 300.|||The only things that can damage a card are heat and over voltage.

It won't run properly if the power supply is insufficient, but it sure won't damage it.

How to find out what video card I have?

I previously had to reinstall windows xp on my computer and now when I go to load pc games i get messages saying i have 0mb of space. 2. In search type run and hit enter (this is a run command)

a little run window should appear

3. In the run window type the command dxdiag and hit enter

I'm on a tight budget so id rather go for the cheaper option as long as it still runs most of the games on highest settings. I will be getting 4-8 GB of RAM as well. Also a nice video card.|||I would suggest intel even though people say that amd runs better at games but when your running games ram isnt the most important, its GPU and CPU. both are great processors though and id suggest intel but make sure you know what your motherboard runs and research which ones you could get. hope ive helped!|||I would certainly go with Intel. Their processors simply perform better. Bottom Line.

AMD is often the preferred brand for gaming, but I don't understand this considering most games perform significantly better on Intel processors and video encoding is simply garbage with AMD.

If you don't believe, check out this benchmark (Crysis) which compares the Intel i7 930 to its AMD counterparts: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/20…

installing a video card is easy enough. you need to open up your case, taking necessary precautions against statics, then just plug it in on the right slot. install the drivers then you're ready to go. on some pc, you may need to configure your BIOS to disable the onboard video chip.|||What kind of video card do you have?

Download the latest driver from the manufacurers website.

also if you replace the video card it will come with instructions on how to install it. And Yes, you will have to open the computer case to install the new video card.|||you'll have to open it up and put it on your motherboard, there's a slot for a video card on it.

if you're unsure how to install one, you can always search on google which will show you how to.|||Right click on your desktop, properties, settings, slide the resolution bar to the far right. Click apply. If the display looks good, accept. If your screen goes "garbled", just wait and it will reset to the previous settings.

I am getting a new video card, a Radeon HD 5750, but it is PCI Express 2.0 x16, but my current video card is PCI Express 1.0 x16, will my port work with the 2.0 card, or is there a way to find out if I have a 2.0 port?|||It will work, just not to its full capacity. What is the price of a 512 mb / 1 gb video card in india?

i have a sis 64mb video card.i need to upgrade it to 512 mb or to a maximum of 1 gb.|||First u will have to check if ur motherboard support the graphic card of the current generation..They are of various types-AGP,PCI,PCI-E..it will be written just above the slot on ur mobo. Now if its an AGp it will cost abt 5000RS but i dont think 512 mb cards are available in AGP..the max is 256MB and that would be around 3000-4000 RS...

If u see PCI there would be the 512MB grapic card for Rs 5000..In the PCI-E segment(most advanced) there are 3 things available in 512mB.The first is which has DDR1 memory. It would be for 3000Rs.The second is with DDR2 memorey(buy this or the higher version listed afterwards). The third is DDR3 memory. It is the latest to date..IT will be available for Rs. 6000..Check out the prices of all comuter components at www.theitwares.com .The card u are talking about(SIS 64Mb )( is the onboard graphic card that is it is built in on ur mobo....

Hope i helped..

Does it matter what type of memory a video card has when upgrading?

many video cards have like ddr2 or ddr3 memory types, do you really have to be aware about that when you are upgrading your graphics/video card.|||DDR2 and DDR3 just mean they're faster and more advanced than the typical DDR. i don't think it matters, but just try and get the one that matches your specs to be on the safe side.|||yes it is if you have DDR2 and the video card was 512 and want DDR3 the video card will not work or will work with just 256 m so you will lose your video card speed and your money |||GRRRR....

These answers are totally incorrect!

Most video cards these days are gddr3. Most computers are ddr2. The vram in the card and the ram on the motherboard do not interact. There is no issue with compatability - the vram serves the gpu and the ram serves the cpu.

Right now Im using a machine with ddr2 ram and gddr3 vram. (radeon 4850).

There's no issue.

If you had to have ddr3 ram ro run video cards with gddr3 ram, nvidia and ati wouldnt sell any video cards, as most computers (probably 99%) have either ddr or ddr2 ram.

The entire 8 and 9 Nvidia series (with some exceptions at the low end) are gddr3.

Same with the 3xxx and 4xxx series ATI cards.

The 4870 is GDDR5 ....

Looking for a video card upgrade that can be installed in an Dell XPS 430 with the stock power supply?

I'm not a big gamer at all but I would like to be able to play Diablo 3 when its finally released and I doubt the stock video card, an ATI Radeon 3650, will be adequate.

I dont need a super high end video card just an upgrade capable of playing newer single player games(not online) without bogging down.|||If your XPS 430 has a Core 2 Duo processor, then it came with a 375 watt power supply (model number L375P-00, Dell P/N P8401). If your XPS 430 has a Core 2 Quad processor would have included a similar 425 watt power supply.

The 375 watt power supply is pretty decent. It supports 30A combined (360 watts) on the +12V rails. That's sufficient to run a lot of good video cards, up to a Radeon 4850.

A Radeon 4770 would be a good choice. Those can be hard to find --it's a new design, and they've had production problems --but they're fast (only slightly slower than a Radeon 4850), and very efficient.

The GeForce GTS 250 also uses a newer GPU design (55nm) which makes it more efficient than previous generation cards. Those draw about 80 watts under load. The recommended power supply for a GTS 250 is one with at least 24A combined available on the +12V rails.

EVGA 512-P3-1150-TR, GeForce GTS 250 512MB,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||Give the ATI HD4770 a try. It uses just 80 watts of electrical power so it should work with your XPS430's stock power supply, and it's an entry-level gamer card (a grade above your HD3650).

The reason why the HD4770 has gamer-level performance while using so little power is because it uses the new energy-efficient 40-nanometer circuits.

How can I upload video from my sd card to my laptop?

I have a sd card that is for my phone and I have video on it that I want to put on my laptop is there a way that I can do this .|||If you have a built in card reader, just put it in the slot.

If you don't, you'll have to buy a USB card reader, put the card in it and plug it into a USB port.

Your laptop should 'see' it and open a new window, if not, press and hold the Windows logo key (the one with the flag symbol) and tap 'E'.

Double click the card reader (removable device) then 'drag & drop' the file to a folder.|||You can just connect your mobile to your laptop through a USB cable!

that should do the job!

Will a NVIDIA GEFORCE 6200 64MB PCI-EXPRESS VGA VIDEO CARD Work on the sims 3?

I found this video card for a great price on ebay and i was wondering if it will work on the sims 3 and will it work good?|||I don't really think so, no.|||That is a very weak, older card. I seriously doubt you will be able to run Sims 3 (or 2) using that card, even if you have a fairly fast CPU and decent memory.

You really don't want to go cheap on video cards, because you'll end up regretting it after seeing how poorly it runs games. Spend the $200 to $300 on a good video card that will handle games with ease and make you proud. And be careful when buying video cards online! I use ebay all the time as a buyer and seller, but I would NEVER buy a video card on ebay, even if the seller claims it to be new. Instead, consider getting your card from CompUSA.com or from NewEgg.com. Those two computer sites sell great computer parts at lower prices than you'll find elsewhere, plus they both have amazing customer service if you have any questions or concerns. Their shipping is fast and not overpriced, too. I personally prefer CompUSA, because there's a store located not far from me--if they don't have it in stock, they can order it for free so I don't pay shipping, and I can just pick it up.

I hope this helps!|||umm well i have a geforce 6200 256mb version in one of my desktops and it can play bf2 with out an issue. you would be best with getting a 8400 pci card from tigerdirect.com and that would play the sims 3

Do the PowerPC Mac Minis have a decent video card to watch online videos without lag?

It could be either the 1.25GHz model or the 1.42GHz. I want to get one soon but I don't want to get one and see that it is not what I expect on the video card. Or should I get the Intel Core Solo at least. No I do not want to buy a new one or get the Intel Core 2 Duo. Please help anyone who has one. Thanks for all answers. :)|||The first-generation Mac Minis have no problem with streaming video off the Web. You can do that just fine on a fast G3, in fact.

The only thing you need to be aware of is that the PPC-based models are moving out of support by Apple. You can't run anything higher than Mac OS X 10.5 on it; 10.6 or higher is going to be Intel-only, and even software developers are moving away from that platform. For example, there's no official support for Mozilla Firefox 4 or higher on PPC now.

Given those circumstances, unless I was getting the PPC Mac Mini dirt cheap, I would hold out for an Intel model. A Core Solo is actually a good option if you find one cheap, because it's well-known that these can be upgraded to a much faster Core Duo or even a Core 2 Duo if you don't mind tinkering. Not to mention that any Intel-based Mac is going to be supported for the future.

What Type of video card does dell use?

I need to no what video card is in my computer and its a dell.|||What you need to do is go into control panel, then click on the display icon. Then click the settings tab and it will tell you the name of the monitor running on the video card that is installed.

If you want more info about the video card, click on the advanced button and then the adapter tab after you click the settings tab.|||Need to know the Model of your Dell|||Indeed. That is by no means enough information. They make many different systems with different video cards. In all likely-hood though, it is one of the video cards that is actually integrated in to the motherboard, making it useless for gaming. I say this because, you don't sound like you know enough to have chosen one based on the video card, or specifically upgraded it. They use those on most systems by default because they can lower the price of the system dramatically without an average buyer having any idea.

Do i need to buy a new video card or can update it?

HELP!|||Your PC has outdated/weak integrated graphics. If your PC has a graphics expansion slot 4X/8X AGP or PCI Express (NOT slow PCI), buy and install a decent compatible graphics card. Even current $35 graphics cards should have no problem playing Sims3.|||Shader models are not software they are architectures on which the hdr lighting shadows and shaded textures are decided.

for eg- shader model 3.0 = unified shader model <same as next gen consoles. so it means that if you have shader model 2.0 then your shader core is phsically based on the 2.0 architecture.therefore you have to buy a new graphic card.

they are really cheap now but i suggest u wait for dx11 to come. then buy an ati u r sure to get PURE FUN from it.

How do I install a video card with an intergrated motherboard?

I would like to install a new video card on my PC but im affraid i dont know what to do if my motherboard is intergrated with a NVIDIA 6150 LE card. I was looking into maybe a higher rated card like GeForce 6800 PCI express|||just pop the new pcie card into the slot and boot up. Install the drivers for it and reboot. When it re-boots, go into the bios and disable the integrated video and that should be all you have to do!|||This is not too bad. You can have a motherboard with integrated graphics but still use a dedicated graphics card. You just need to disable the integrated graphics on the motherboard, which is typically done in the BIOS. And sometimes you don't even have to do that. Sometimes all you have to do is install the new graphics card, then plug the monitor cable in to the port on the new graphics card.|||it's not the mother board that's integrated with the video card but the other way around

if you computer is a year or two old open your case and look for a brown coloured slot about 3 or 4 inch long that's a AGP slot you can fit a new video card in that you should be able to disable the original card in the bios|||depending on which slot you have on your m/board now agp slot or a pci/ex anyway you have the 6 series chip on there now so if you're going to upgrade go to the 7 series or 8 series and disable the on board thru the bios

Is a video card to blame for choppy video and sound on a mac?

I have a 128 mb video card and when i try to play video on final cut and quicktime, its real choppy and stop-n-go.

Is there anyway to fix this without buying a new card?|||That is a pretty fat video card for a mac. I have a 32 MB video on a mac mini with a 20 inch display. Unless I try full screen it works very well. Maybe you are streaming, that relies on the download speed of your modem. Maybe your source media (DVD or hd) has corrupt or fragmented files. I don't expect the card is the issue all alone.

Do noe you have done additional testing, and you believe it is not the card; so be sure your software is the most recent versions and updates. Then repair preferences with your system utility, and restart.Still problems? Try apple support forums.|||Probably in the options in final cut.... Otherwise you will have to buy a new video card....|||Could be the video/sound card, but it could also be your codec. Download and install any new codecs available for you're trying to play.

Processor upgrade or video card upgrade for gaming performance?

i currently hav:

pentium [r] dual core E5200 @ 2.51 GHZ,

3gb ddr2 ram,

1gb ati 4350 core clock:600mhz, memory clock:400mhz

i think ram is ok for me.

should i upgrade to a core2duo or corei3 OR i should replace video card with a 9500gt to get better gaming performance?|||what are you looking to spend? if you have a home build then go for the cpu....if you have a OEM (dell, gateway, HP etc) then *more then likely* the bios is locked to only accept cpus that were originally offered with that pc which rules out core 2...(cause they are from a different generation) and definitely i3 (because i3's use a different socket and an i3 socket 1136 physically wont fit in a socket 775) so go for the GPU because any GPU will work as long as you have a pci-e x16 and a sufficient PSU|||Your Processor is fine, graphic card is not,

technically the Ati 4350 is not considered a gaming card at all, 4650 & 5650 onwards are for gaming.

Buying a new processor will gain you very less FPS.

So, 9500gt is a good upgrade, but it would be smart buying a Nvidia 9600gt or 240gt or ATI 5650, 4670 as they the mid-range gaming cards.

(Note: Don't go for 1gb cards if it cost more, they will have no performance gain over 512mb cards at low resolutions, for resolutions above 1600x1200 1gb is useful but these cards are not powerful enough to play games at that resolution smoothly.)

Hope this Helps.|||You should definitely trade up your graphics card. Go read up on the better cards. I would recommend getting a nvidia that you suggested or an ati if your on a big budget but be weary about ati graphics card because they are built cheaper because they are made cheaper.|||videocard is usually the thing to upgrade for graphics and gamming, but I'm unfamiliar with those recent models so I can't tell for sure.

Does the Vidock 4 or 4 plus come with a video card?

I fairly new when it comes to PC gaming. I currently have a dv7-3165dx 4g running windows 7 64bit. even though my computer is pretty good, when it comes time to play certain high quality games my laptop falls short. I wanted to know does the Vidock 4 or plus comes with a video card or not. If it doesn't what is a good video card to get for the vidock 4?|||There's no way it would. A high-performance graphics card costs over $200, up to around $700 for the best ones, and most people wouldn't want to leave it to the company to choose the graphics card for them. A 'good video card' depends on what games you want to play.

Will it hurt if I install a video card into my computer that requires more power watts than my PC has?

I am asking because I would like to upgrade my GeForce 6100 video card to a GeForce 7900 card however the GeForce 7900 requires 350w of my PSU and I only have 300w. I am wondering if this will harm my computer and if its okay to go ahead and upgrade?

Thanks in advance|||You can upgrade it but you will be losing out on the full performance of the card by under powering it. Just upgrade the psu in the near future to at least 500w, it is recommended to have more psu power than what your system calls for. But yes you can go ahead and install it.|||Probably not.

When I upgraded to a 7950 GT, I paid eighty bucks for a 500 Watt PSU so I would be sure that there would be no power problems.

It would probably work, but at mak loads, the PSU won't give enough power for your graphics card. Bet at least a 400 watt power supply with at least 22 AMPs on the 12 volt rail.|||If your PSU only can dish out 300 watts of power , and your installing something that takes up 350 watts alone , not considering any other components...I'll let your think for a minute..

Minute..over. The Answer is no.

Go to newegg.com and get something with atleast 600 watts.

Also , make sure the 7900 will go into the correct slot.

PCI , AGP , PCI Express x16 , ect.

It has a good chance of being a AGP though , seeing as your PSU had such low power.|||Drawing more power than the power-supply is rated for will either shutdown the power-supply or worse it will run but have a much shortened life. You would be better off to increase the size of your power-supply before putting in the new video card. Remember Murphy's Law! It will fail just when you need it the most. Going larger on the power-supply is better. The farther from the maximum out put you run it the longer it will last and the better the power regulation will be. If you have to have the video card invest in the power supply too.|||no that 350 mean that that is what your entire system will take up ALL TOGETHER. so you might wanna get a new power supply because it can burn up that one you have now. It happened to a co worker of mine. he put a HD2900xt into his computer and it killed his psu. look on newegg.com for a cheap 400-500 watt psu. shouldn't be more that $30-40

How do I figure out what video card I have?

You should see "Display Adapters" tab if you scroll down a bit. It should display your video card if you click it, and if you right click the video device name and hit properties it should tell you how much memory your card has and other details. Since you are unaware of the memory of your card, it is likely that you did not purchase the card. If the computer was manufactured by a company such as Dell or HP, it is likely that the video card is integrated onto the motherboard. In this case, your video memory is shared with your system memory. Some newer computers when upgraded with memory dedicate more of that memory strictly to video.

What is the general Nvidia equivalent to a Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 Video Card?

I'm trying to compare it to my current graphics card. I am a gamer and I definitely need an upgrade. Unfortunately, I have to find something that is AGP compatible. So... it would be awesome if I could find out what the Nvidia equivalent to a Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 Video Card would be. :D|||the Nvidia equivalent to the HD 3850 is about the Geforce 9600 GT / 8800 GT.

it's relatively hard to compare due to the different number of texture units of the cards. also a shader processor isn't the same on a Nvidia card and an ATI card.

but i think these 2 cards are closest to each other

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?…|||The X1950Pro or HD3850 and the 7950GT are all rivals

AGP is a dead format and nvidia has `essentially turned its back on the format and due to this only ATI offer decent chipsets.

If you are planning on shelling out money for one of these, think about a CPU/motherboard updrade instead cos it will serve you better if a little mory expensive.|||Hi

Like the previous reply AGP is becoming a seriously outdated bit of technology. If you are still running AGP, then maybe you should look at getting an entry level PCI-E machine and build your way up? But If you are dead set on AGP then the Nvidia 7950GT AGP is a winner. Check the link and hopefully it will help. Its a direct comparison between the HD3850 and the 7950GT. Hope this helps

Where can I download a better video card?

How do I install my new AGP Video Card?

I just got an XFX Geforce 6800 XT AGP 8X 256MB DDR3 and I have no idea how to install it into my Dell Windows XP 2001. Can you go through the process step by step?

Am I supposed to uninstall my current video card first and then insert my new Video card in?|||Check the Dell site - they have manuals that show exactly how you open your case and replace various components.

It really is just as simple as taking the old one out and putting the new one in! There is usually only 1 slot it can go into (the AGP one).

Then you boot up and install the drivers from the CD or Nvidia's website.|||wow that is a VERY similar card to mine! What you want to do is go into device manager, and uninstall your current card. Then shut your computer down and take the old card out, replacing it with your new one. Boot up and when the "found new hardware" thingy comes up, press cancel. Put in your install CD and install the drivers for it. If you dont have a CD, download the current drivers from the internet. Make sure your DirectX is up to date (ver. 9.0c) and your VIA chipset drivers are updated too. Make sure your power supply is adequate to support your card. Mine wasn't and I had to install another 200W one!!! Make sure your system meets all the requirements on your cards box. If you run into any problems, call the toll-free tech support line! I know all this because i had to go through the same thing with my new nvidia geforce fx 5700ve by PNY! I've worked with it for almost a week now, and it STILL doesn't work!|||Did the card come with a good set of instructions? I'd follow them. They usually come with a nice step by step instruction booklet, with pictures.

My first question would be... Are you sure you have an AGP slot in your computer? A lot of newer machines have PCI-E (express) slots.

It's a relatively easy process. You may want to look inside your case to see what's there before you do anything else.

You'll want to remove your old card under Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Hardware-Device manager first, just to make certain all the old drivers are removed and won't conflict with the new drivers that you'll install for your new card.

First, figure out how to open your computer case. Tower cases usually give you more room to work in, but either way the motherboard layout will be similar.

As to whether or not you have to take out your old video card... that depends on whether or not you had an integrated video card (part of the motherboard) or if you actually had a separate video card that's taking up the AGP slot on your motherboard.

Look for your AGP slot. It's usually on the left side (looking at it from the back) of the other slots in your case, and sometimes a different color. If there is a card in the slot currently, remove the screw that is holding the card to the back of your case, then gently remove the card from the slot. Sometimes there's a little plastic hook on the back of the card as well, holding it to the motherboard. If there is, make sure you flip it back before yanking up on the card.

Put the new card in the AGP slot and gently (but firmly) make sure it's pressed down into the slot. Then take the screw you removed from the metal plate that presses against the back of the case (from the old card) and use it to attach the new card to the case.

Close the case up. Reboot your computer, and be ready to install the video card drivers.

If you had an integrated video card (the slot was empty and ready for your card) you may want to go into the BIOS and turn off the integrated card. The motherboard may figure out that you have a card in the slot, however, making that process un-necessary.

I don't think that card requires it's own connection to the power supply in your computer (some do). It should be able to draw enough power from the AGP slot.

Also, can you tell what the wattage of your power supply is? Sometimes Dell doesn't put a power supply in the system that can handle cards like that. I personally install good 400Watt power supplies in the systems I build. You might manage with 300W or above but if you have less than a 300W power supply you'll probably have issues down the road.|||I read Krista's (after writing mine) yes, her answer is good, thumbs up!

Just slip it into the slot. First, is your old video card on board or is it removable. If it's on board, some computers you have to go into the bios and disable the on board video. If not you have to just yank out your other card and place the new one in. If you have the install disk that came with your card, place it into the drive and use it to install. If not windows may do it automatically. If you took out your old card, go into control panel and uninstall or disable the old video card. It's actually one of the simplest things to do, you'll be amazed when you've completed the task! Just make sure you unplud your power cord first!

Why am I having this video card problem?

...the problem being that whenever I open a game, the resolution changes, and the whole image is widened. Also, I get the "blue screen of doom" with an error concerning the video card as well sometimes. The video card has been installed in a service by professionals, so I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

What can I do?|||Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

|||it only occurs whenver you access the game, so find out if the game requirements matches your computers specs.

this is just a compatibility issue, i believe. or you may wanna try updating the video card driver, just to be sure.

hope this helps.|||The game settings might be trying to use resolutions the video card doesn't support, try changing the settings in the game options to a lower setting and see if that solves the problem.

How well will the BFG Geforce 8600 GTS 256MB PCIe Video Card play World of Warcraft?

Newegg.com has a Canadian shop that you can buy from...|||Probably, if you get a 512MB Graphics card you will most definitely be able to play it on high with those specs. But I do recommend getting 2 GB RAM.|||First that card is way overpriced.Secondly you should add at least 1 more gig of ram to get the best preformance. I Have a HP pavilion a815n, 1GB nivida video card, 2 GB's of ram, 3 GHz CPU. But speed fan keeps saying its over heating. What can i do? My Fan inside also makes a loud humming sound. If i should replace my fan what fan should i get?|||Speed fan has options to adjust your fanspeed higher when the temperature reaches a certain threshold. It might be that the fan isn't going fast enough to cool the card. If you don't feel that the stock fan is working well enough, do a Google search for you card + aftermarket fan. There are a number of people who use aftermarket fans to cool their graphics cards. You'll need to be specific when searching, there are lots of Nvidia cards with 1GB of memory.|||Make sure it's ramping up the fan speeds properly under load, speedfan or other programs should be able to check that.

Zalman makes great fans. I don't know if swapping out gpu fans is easy or even very available, partwise, but swapping the cpu fan out is not hard, just be careful, and do the paste very right.

You overclocked?|||Try taking it all out and giving it a proper dust off. Often dust build up results in overheating. if that doesnt work then yes try replacing the fan, but first check for dust build up anywhere in your pc. Also make sure you pc has proper circulation leading from the outside to the inside.|||1. Replace the CPU fan, it will be much quieter.

2. Add thermal paste.

3. Replace or add case fans.

4. Does your VGA card have a fan? No? Add one.

5. Clean inside from dust.|||Get a cooling mat.

What is the latest video card they have right now and can you buy it in any store or just internet?

The latest video card for a dell computer and how much does it cost.|||First of all, you need to know the bus type that the graphics card uses. You can find this out by looking inside your computer at where the graphics card is, then go to http://www.bfgtech.com/bustype/index.htm and see what diagram most closely matches what yours looks like. After that its just pretty much hunting for what your looking for. You may also want to make sure that it will fit space-wise, because I have seen many things lately about cards too big for the PC case, so make sure to find dimensions in the card's specifications. I want to play the Sims 3 and it says I need a new video card and my mom is being a butt about it.

So where can I find one cheap and I how do I know it's right fir my computer?|||You will need to know what kind of video slot your computer has, pcie or agp. The card should be directx 9 compatible and you will need at least 1gig of ram to play Sims 3. Start by looking in system information to see what your computer specs are. Try Tiger Direct or Newegg!!!|||You could try Newegg.com. As far as knowing if its the right one, you would need to provide the specs of your system.

Does my video card effect the quality of my blue-ray movies?

I have an NVIDIA 8600GT and I'm about to get a blue-ray drive. I have a 24" monitor should I upgrade my video card or is it ok?|||I bought a Blu-Ray player for Christmas last year and I have the same video card. It worked just fine. You want to make sure you have a HDCP-compliant cable from your card to your monitor. If you don't, it will NOT let you play movies on it (it's copy-right protection for your computer, it basically doesn't let you play it because it thinks you'll record it. HDCP-compliant cables will prevent recording).

For example, I have two monitors: one with a compliant cable and one without. It played on the compliant monitor, but if I dragged the window to the other monitor it would immediately stop playing. So you should check on your cable.

My rig is a 2.6 GHz Dual Core with 3GB RAM. If you were to upgrade your video card, I'm sure it would make it better for multi-tasking, but if you just played the movie without doing other tasks, you'll be fine without an upgrade.|||Should be okay. You'll want to upgrade eventually though.|||If your monitor and video card dont support hi-def then it will probably be like watching it on a standard tv

Add a new video card in the appropriate extra slot.

Then disable your old card. I have done this in the past for people.

It is very simple and works well on integrated audio also.

You can google the details. But make sure you get the new card up and running first with the correct drivers. Then disable your integrated card.

Will save you from having it repaired.

HP sometimes uses a "best guess".

Try re-installing the drivers to your current card.

No Heatsink on my integrated video card?

I've been using my PC without the heatsink for the integrated video card for awhile now. Everythings fine.

The video card is the sis760. Was wondering if I do need to put this back on. I still have the heat sink.

The thing thats been drawing me back is the fact that I'd have to solder and I am not good at that and dont want to risk destroying my motherboard.

What would happen if I continue to leave it alone with no heat sink?|||although it's onboard and they tend not to produce much heat, it was designed with the heatsink for a reason .. even the slightest influx in temperature inside your machine can reek havoc on your system .. the heatsink is there to dissipate what heat the card does create and keep the inside of your box running at optimal temps .. you CAN use it without the heatsink, it may not cause problems as long as the cooling is adequate inside but I highly recommend reattaching it .. it was put there for a reason afterall .. and if it does fry the card, you're looking at 100$ easy to replace it with an expansion card .. just do yourself a favor and put it back on before problems to pop up ;]|||Yea. IGP donts need heat sinks, they are very bad, so they dont produce much heat|||Why did you take it off in the first place? You should put it back on so it doesn't overheat and kill itself (and possibly the motherboard too).|||well honestly even though the PC may look ugly but never take a risk like this because it can burn other componets like the motherboard and then you won't be able to use that video card anymore.|||i have the sis760 too and i've touched the chip without the heatsink after running farcry and it was barely warm so i wouldn't worry about it.

Is it possible to use the HDMI port and 1x DVI port from a video card at the same time?

My video card has 2x DVI ports, and HDMI port and something else (I can't remember the connection type, but I know I don't/won't use that). Is it possible to use one of the DVI ports and the HDMI port at the same time for dual monitors? Sapphire Radeon 5770

Was just curious because I have 1x HDMI-to-HDMI and 1x DVI-to-HDMI cables.|||the other one is called a DisplayPort connection

yes, you can use those 2 at the same time (hdmi and dvi)|||Yes you can use that for dual monitors, but people usually use it for different monitor types.

Should I use onboard video or purchase a pci video card?

I just bought a 1080p monitor and movies and video clips are very choppy at max resolution. I have a dell e310 with Intel GMA 900 Graphics with 128MB Shared Memory. I have a PCIe 1x slot but i can't find many video cards to fit and none are within my budget. Will a 50 - 60 dollar pci video card be an improvement or should i stick with the onboard?|||There are almost no PCI-E x1 video cards on the market. Here's the only model carried by NewEgg, but it's pricey for what it is.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you had a more recent integrated video chipset like the GMA 3100 or 4500 then you'd be better off sticking with built-in video, because old PCI bandwidth is so low. But your GMA 900 is so weak you'd see improvement going to a GeForce 6200 or Radeon X1550 PCI card. But don't waste money on a GeForce FX5200 or Radeon 9200, those PCI cards are obsolete junk.

Because there are also enough more powerful cards then your on board one.

Good Luck|||On board graphic cards are usually the bare minimum unless you bought a computer geared to either Gaming or Media Centre

If the video you are watching is jumpy (as in it will play then suddenly come jumpy to a later spot in the video) this happens either because of low processor power (or if it is online low bandwidth)

but if it is choppy (as in it is clear/HD some times but looks like a jig saw puzzle other times) then you need a new pci card

I really don't know much about prices but I am pretty sure there are pci card specifically built for HD, but they are probably more expensive

hopes this helps|||Yeah you can get the 8600gt its only $60 and it will play your movies with amazing detail. And if your in to games you will be able to play any game out including crysis.

How do i know how much MB/GB a video card is?

If i have the name of a video card, how do i know how much MB/GB it is?

Because i want to buy a computer and/or a laptop.

So is there any kind of site where i can find this out?

BTW: my brother says a video card at a laptop is harder to find or something. I don't really understand that.|||A video card on a laptop would most likely be soldered directly onto the motherboard. Laptops can overheat and turn off when playing a game. Desktops are by far the best choice for a gaming computer. And do not get a slimline desktop because some of them have no room for an extra internal harddrive. Desktops can have better cooling systems. Desktops have better ventilation. Desktops are more quieter during game play. And no $200 battery to replace in 18 to 24 months. And if you spill on a desktop keyboard, you most likely only replace the desktop keyboard. If you spill on a laptop, you most likely have to replace the whole unit. And a spill is not covered under warranty. I found one good website for a certain brand of video cards.

Many greenhorns think their laptop has a video card. Many just have motherboard graphics. There just is no physical room for a video card in a laptop and that video card would need its own ventilation/fan unit.|||Hello. Since you know that name of the video card, you could visit the website of the company that makes the video card. They usually have information the amount of memory on their video cards. Alternatively type in the name of your video card into a search engine such as Google and see what information you can find.

Connecting a second monitor to my video card?

My video card has 2 outputs, VGA and DVI. I am currently using the VGA output and have another VGA monitor that I would like to use as an extension. Can I just get a DVI-VGA adapter and plug it right in? Will this enable me to do the extension?|||you could start by learning how to spell|||look at the documentation for your videocard, probably not, but it's not a very expensive thing to test... It will only have a chance of working if the dvi output is DVI-I, learn more here:

sale / small computer shop that sells used equip.

What is the lowest costing video card for the pc that can run GTA 4 at max settings?

I want to get a new video card but I am strapped for cash. Could anyone tell of a good video card at a low price that will run GTA 4 at max settings. I would prefer an Ati card, in case I wish to use it in a crossfire configuration in the future. Thanks!|||Assuming your processor is good, I'd suggest a 4870 HD with 1 gb of VRAM. I have a 4850 HD, I can run it pretty high, but not totally maxed.

You should be able to pick up a 4870 with a gig for around $150 on Newegg|||Umm... there's a LOT more to gaming than just the video card. I mean, if your CPU is garbage you could put a $500 video card and not even be able to run GTA4 let alone run it at max settings. Just get the best video card you can afford. It may not run GTA4 at max, but it'll work.|||If you want to know exactly what your going to need from every spec of a computer to be able to run GTA IV on your computer, check out this site and diagnose your computer:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/ref…|||Its not just your graphics card that makes a game run well. It mainly makes the game look smoother and better.

Your whole system needs to be fast. A graphics card will help but is useless without the appropriate cpu and ram to back it up...

Get a program called "userbench encode 2009 for windows"

run it get your ranking. See how much of your hardware you actually need to update.

But if you think its just a graphics card you need i would get somethign like Ati Radeon HD 4800 series. like mine i run GTA 4 max settings :D.

What would be a good video card to upgrade for acer w/vista?

I have acer ast180 with pci express empty slot. What would be a fair video card to upgrad with for gaming?|||Thank god you have PCI-E lol, you can put all the best cards in there =]

erm.....

All depends.... if you do gaming i'd say get a Nividia GeForce 6800 or higher

The 8600.... get that if you play Counter Strike Source, or COD4|||I own one. It's a nice PC, it really needs at least 1GB of RAM, and it's great for everything except gaming.

The 270-300w power supply won't handle mid, and high-end video cards. Check power requirements before buying one! So your choice right now are low-end cards which aren't dramatically faster than the built-in one. Also, the PCI express slot is 8x instead of 16x.

I think it's more cost effective getting a Xbox360 (wait until 2008 after they redo the chipset), or a PS3 if they significantly lower the price. Many PC games will eventually be available on the 360.|||Well I'd suggest ATi because nVidia drivers aren't fully compatible with Vista yet. But for decent gaming, something with 512mb of video memory.|||I own an ATI Radeon HD 2900 with 512mb GDDR3 memory with special DirectX10 support especially designed for Vista and works like wonder in any game I have tried it with. It's about 400$ but if you want something more cheeper try ATI Radeon X1900GT or X1950 PRO or ATI Radeon HD 2600Pro..

Cheers :)

What video card should I get?

I have an IBM ThinkCentre m57 6072 desktop, and would like to upgrade the video card to something more suitable for online gaming. Problem is, I don't know what card to get, or how much one would be. Any suggestions would be appreaciated, thanks|||That's a very small power supply. I would still to something that's super low powered. ATI recommends a 400 watt power supply for this but it's as low powered as you can get. It should be able to work and will definitely give better performance than anything you already have because it's newer technology. Your hands are a little tied up with that power supply.
