How can I find out if my laptop's video card can be upgraded?
I tried the manufacturer's website, but they didn't have this info. I know at Crucial.com there's a scanner that will tell you exactly what RAM slots you have available and what kind of RAM you should get... is there a similar scanner for a video card? Or, how can I find out if I have expansion slots for a video card, and what kind will be compatible?|||Almost all laptops have their video (graphic) cards integrated on the motherboard, so you can't change it. Although there a model of Dell that has a replaceable graphic card but I doubt if you can be able to have it without ordering from Dell and it will probably cost much that you can buy a new computer ! Can you use a DDR2 video card with a DDR mother board?
I was gonna get another video card,but all the new ones are either ddr2 or ddr3.My mother board and memory is the regular ddr.Can I still use the ddr2 video cards?|||The DDR2 memory is for the video card use only, it will not effect your motherboard with only DDR memory.

I would say do it if is an excellent price, much less than a new one of the same model. The only thing the seller can guarantee you is that it works right now, while the manufacturer will offer you a much longer year + warranty.

How do i know what kind of video card my dell gx280 can use?

The GT240 in your link is a standard height card and will only fit inside the Small Mini Tower and Mini Tower systems. The other 3 models of the GX280 don't have enough internal space for a standard height card, and also have weak power supplies that can't support a GT240 AND your system.
In the above link, the Small Form-Factor Computer only has a 160W power supply, that, even though it has a pci-e x16 slot, is unable to support a graphics card AND the system.
The Small Desktop Computer has a 210W power supply that *might* be able to support a low profile (due to the case size), low power pci-e x16 graphics cards such as the Radeon HD 5450 and HD 6450 which only draw around 20W, but are designed for Home Theater use rather than gaming.
The Desktop Computer has a 280W power supply, and also must use a low profile card, but can support up to an HD 5570 which draws around 42W.
For the Small Mini Tower, the wattage of the power supply depends on which processor it has. According to Dell:
"small mini-tower computer with processor speeds of 3.2 GHz or lower: 250 W
small mini-tower computer with processor speeds of 3.4 GHz or higher: 305 W"

The reason that I recommend using Radeon cards instead of GeForce cards is that Radeon cards will usually offer better performance than GeForce cards that draw the same amount of power.

Can I upgrade my video card on my laptop?
I have an Asus U80A that I got back in September, 2009. It has a Mobile Intel Express Chipset Family, which is integrated memory; but I was wondering if I can add a video card to my laptop.|||It's not very practical and nearly impossible in most cases. Most base model laptops come with graphics cards integrated with the motherboard, so you'd have to replace both if this was your case. Some more expensive mid and high range laptops have graphics cards separate from the motherboard but the two are soldered together making removal difficult but possible. Also, it tends to be difficult to find consumer graphics cards for laptops. I'm assuming that by integrated memory, you mean the graphics card is integrated with the motherboard? If so, you cannot remove the graphics card without removing the motherboard.|||Very few laptops have a video card. Most have on-board video (integrated video) that is part of the mother board...not changeable unless you change the whole motherboard itself...not feasible.|||not really, since its an ultra thin you would need to have a professional install it, and since it does have an extra slot for it, but it does have an empty hard drive bay ( asus has two bays on this model) i suppose you could put a really small one in this bay but....thats a really big stretch.

A way to detect of my video card is physically bad?
I keep getting terrible artifacts during gaming. And believe me I've tried everything. It's not the drivers, nor the settings, nor the anti-aliasing.
I would just like to know if there is a program out there that can detect if my video card is physically defective.
Thank you.|||Yes, it called computer diagnostic software, that can put a computer through strenuous activity and report on any problems that occur on the motherboard and the equipment attached to it. It is not a fast process and in most case the software allows you to choose what you want to run the diagnostic on.
In general most laptops have a video chip and not a card. In most cases these are not designed for intensive playing of video games. A lot of times the cooling of the inside is inadequate for the extreme heat generated from the processor and video chip, so what happens is the circuits experience a temporary break down. Try extra cooling for the laptop may help.|||There isn't a way to tell by just looking at it. You could try it in another computer and see if you experience the same issues.
